The biggest success in Germany and in European countries was achieved with the cover version of the Hooters song "Johnny B." For this song, DOWN LOW received their first Gold record in 1998 and made it into the top ten of the German charts.
A series of awards and projects with other artists (Rappers Against Racism) were the result. In 1998, DOWN LOW was also awarded with RSH-Gold for the most successful club hit of the year. The excitement for DOWN LOW's music did not fade and half a year later they topped the charts with the hit "Johnny B." and the ballad "Once Upon A Time". This song also received Gold certification, for selling more than 400,000 singles. "Once Upon A Time" reached number 4 in the German charts and even number 2 in Italy. Their album "Moonlight" received Platinum certification in Italy.

In 1999, DOWN LOW also received an award for selling 1,000,000 singles. Overall, the group had 17 hits in Germany.
